Listen Up!

The ability to listen, understand and influence are the most valuable traits in our society.

A 2003 survey of corporate Human Resource managers revealed that, of all employees that have been laid off or passed over for promotion during the previous year 85% of them got penalized … not for lack of job competence, but for lack of people skills.

NLP is a superb collection of ‘people skills’, based on a deep understanding of how the mind really works – how we actually create our understanding of reality in our brains. NLP goes way beyond the traditional theories of psychology – it includes elements of anthropology, hypnosis, neuroscience, linguistics, somatic expression, spirituality and much more.

People skills or “emotional intelligence” are hallmarks of a great leader in business, community or any situation where groups of people join together for a common outcome. Those who are able to listen well, see what is present and missing, and feel the emotional tenor of others are able to calibrate their words and deeds for the highest impact. The result is a memorable experience that exists beyond that initial moment and can carry a team, company or country to greatness.

Today, a successful executive needs skills in business administration, strategy, collaboration and people skills to lead an organization. Key word is “lead” not push. A long time ago, someone told me that any body can tear down a building but it takes a real craftsman to build something beautiful, functional and sustainable. I believe the “people skills” part is the real craftsmanship in building a sustainable team and business.

Some people still believe that you are either born with good people skills (emotional intelligence) or that like IQ they think in cannot be increased. Well, it can!

NLP definitely can greatly enhance emotional intelligence though increased awareness, calibration skills, rapport skills, pacing and leading, deep listening (structure not just surface), relational skills and communicating in an individual’s preferred thinking style.
And this is just the beginning of the benefits of NLP training
